Christianity UnDefined

Is it just me or have we taken a new swing in Christianity in this country that takes the literal teachings of Jesus Christ and combines it with Old Testament Bible passages and what has emerged is a total intolerance of just certain sins or certain peoples?

Seems there is a thinking that homosexuals are Super Sinners that must be eradicated from America like rats from an intercity tenement. Seems Americans want this class of people to be a forgotten class of non-people or non-citizens because, well...they aint quite like the rest of us people and God says those acts are abominations so that gives everyone Christian the right to pick up a brick and hurl it. And lately those bricks have been flying like snow flakes in a blizzard.

Some of the more passive aggressive Christians say they still love these people in a brotherly or sisterly way as they go about kicking these people to the curb in every legal way at their disposal. I guess it's for their own good right? Things that we don't understand fully or things that we can justify and rationalize by the use of the Bible begin the new and improved mission for mission conscious Christians.
Let's Ponder
God created man. God created man in his own image. God forgives and God is love. God is judgment and God gives mankind free will. God judges mankind individually by the actions of each person for the free will choices that they made during their lives. Sin is sin and according to the Bible all sin weighs equally on sinners. In addition, we all sin in an almost every living breathing moment type thing while we still breath air. That's pretty clear. There are no specific grades of sin. There is only sin and then there is only grace that can deliver a person from their sins. Man cannot deliver man to Heaven because only God's grace can deliver man to Heaven. So if this is true, which it is, then what reason or right does any human have to point a finger in the type of judgment that forbids or removes rights from certain individuals?

We do that you know and we do it as Internet and Street Porn becomes a $14bn industry in America and as gentlemen's clubs proliferate across America and as husbands seek out hookers and as Americans gobble down tens of billions of dollars of mind altering drugs both legal and illegal...and as we sop up booze like sponges as 50% of America's marriages end in divorce and as few people give a rip about that kind of sin and I think that is called hypocrisy and hypocrisy last I checked was a sin.

God gave man a mandate to go forth and convert people to Christianity and with patience, love, leading by example and wisdom. So where is the wisdom of driving people away from God's message just because at this point in time a person may not be ready to convert? Who set the time line on conversion or else? I've always thought that where there is life there is hope. In that thought, a slow steady hand that reaches out first in friendship to others allows trust to grow naturally and this plants a seed and later with understanding something might blossom. Friendships and kinships power conversions for Jesus Christ and condemnation and confrontation undermines conversion as it drives people away in fear or anger.

In my mind, to do God's work one must be mindful that they are representing the Lord and that carries a huge responsibility to be attractive to other people to draw them near you and to God's word. This setting your own rules and your own time lines isn't a wise representation of a loving and forgiving God. This represents your hangups and your beliefs and not that of our loving Father.

As for myself,  I have had to rethink and reposition myself as the people around me started to in essence hate or fear people that they decided to target as unworthy of the love of God or unworthy of the patience of God or friendship of God or of the gentle leading of God through a practicing Christian or of a basic inclusion even in society.  Frankly, I could feel the fear and the hate no matter how nicely that it was camouflaged. God does not instill negative feelings in mankind. The other guy does that. God never runs out of patience. The other guy does that. And God has never made my hair stand on end yet more than a few so-called Christians have had that effect on me and so has the Devil.

I leave you with; "All things negative belong to the Devil and all things positive are the work of God." So if by chance you feel uneasy in your gut by something spewed forth by a fellow Christian that leaves you angry, scared or purplexed, you may indeed not be with a Christian at all.

We all have to remember, without the loving grace of God, we are all on the bus to Hell and it's not our call who is saved and who is not. We can only represent the love of God and leave the sorting to him.
